Deputy Dan Creede trails bank robbers to a cabin and after a gunfight believes he killed the man Wagner he finds inside. Quitting his job he goes with Wagner's son and takes the foreman's job on the Wagner ranch. The bank robbers who actually killed Wagner also arrive and realize Dan has not told the Wagners he was the killer. As Dan has become attached to the boy, they threaten to expose him unless he lets them rustle Wagner's herd.

An undercover agent takes the job of sheriff in order to find the men responsible for a series of stagecoach robberies.

Steve Allison warns freight-line owner Dan Parks not to transport U. S. gold, but when a hidden shipment is discovered on one his wagons, the suspicion lands on Parks, who resists arrest and flees. Allison, in his later-ego guise of the Durango Kid, sets out to clear his friend of the framed-up charge, by his crooked partner, Morgan, and also reunite him with his young son, Ronnie.

Jeff Gordon and "Hungry" Huggins arrive in Twin Forks to find that Jeff's brother has been murdered, supposedly by another rancher, Bart Jackson. The bank, which holds a mortgage on the ranch, is about to foreclose on the widow, Alice Gordon. Dorothy Jackson, the daughter of the accused rancher, asks Jeff and "Hungry" for their aid in proving her father innocent. Jeff is able to prove that bank president Foster Felton, who is after both ranches, is the man behind the killing.

Gene Autry is back near the saddle, trying to help out a crippled jockey. Gene is certain that the jockey can ride in the Big Race if the lad can regain his self-confidence. Meanwhile, Gene and comical sidekick Sterling Holloway have another problem on their hands: A rogue stallion has "kidnapped" Gene's prize mare. Piloting a plane, Autry seeks out and locates the stallion.

They say that the train is more environmentally friendly and that Estonia needs this railway. On the other side are people who say that the railway destroys nature, that the engineers have thought of nothing but how to draw the straightest possible line for the tracks. Artist Hanna Samoson attaches cameras to her body and steps into the bush. For the next 12 days, she walks through pristine swamps, deep ditches and people's backyards to understand the world that lies in the future railway corridor. On her journey, she meets the soul of Estonian people.
